Services
It was love at first sight when the clients saw the views from this bluff overlooking the open ocean.
When they began to imagine a castle-inspired vacation home that would match the scale of the vista, they were delighted when partner Chuck Dietsche turned to Melville's Moby-Dick as a way to come to terms with the epic task.
The result was a shingled cottage on a human scale with allusions to whaling and sandcastles that frames the views while providing balanced and contemplative spaces for rejuvenation and entertaining.
The open elegant spaces of this dream house were inspired by the client's love of grand hotels, the relaxed elegance of Caribbean vacations, and years of dreaming and collecting clippings.
With cues from colonial architecture of the West Indies, Dietsche + Dietsche combined neo-Classical proportions and island simplicity to create this waterfront retreat, which became the inspiration and television-pilot set for Grayson Manor on the ABC series Revenge.
This Montana client's love of sunny beach cottages seemed the ideal antidote for what partner Chuck Dietsche called the "Field and Stream log monsters" that had been cropping up around their beautiful lake.
The resulting design was a warm, light-filled home outfitted with the client's collection of campy antiques and vintage lake memorabilia.
The cottage is built on a steep grade that maximizes the presence of the lake, with 3 floors of windows on the lake side and just the top floor visible from the street side.
Created as a Coastal Living Idea House, the Marsh Cottage fulfills our fantasies for a romantic vacation retreat.
The upside-down floor plan saves the second-floor views for the main living spaces, leaving the first floor for easily accessible bedroom suites.
With interiors designed by HGTV's Linda Woodrum, the cottage is a showcase for the best of North Carolina coastal style.
Memories of childhood visits to her North Carolina grandparents' house inspired this client's heirloom cottage that will be a legacy for generations to come.
The past, present, and future mingle in this seaside Victorian cottage that blends detail and craftsmanship of past times with magical references to the native trees that surround the house.
