KQ Architects creates architecture sensitive to people and place. This means we carefully consider every aspect of a project, from how light enters each room in a home, to how comfortable patients feel as they move through their doctor's office. We specialize in custom residential and healthcare design, and have spent the last 40 years building strong relationships with our clients as well as the community.

We look forward to working with you.
Services
Each home is the expression of ideas shared by the owner and architect, and each captures the unique character of its setting.
Our clients are involved and invested in their project.
They expect our participation to help them succeed in creating their vision and for their properties and the surrounding environment to be enhanced.
Tenant Improvement projects are customized alterations that a building owner makes to rental space as part of a lease agreement.
We work closely with Owners, Tenants and Staff to design spaces that meet the needs of each particular Tenant.
In 1978, Hugh Knoell, AIA and Phillip Quidort, AIA opened a small studio to create architecture sensitive to people and place, beyond the confines of stylistic trends.
In 1997, Sandra Seward, ASID, became a principal, adding interior design to our services.
The decision to keep the firm small is based on how we could be most effective, while nurturing opportunity, learning and accomplishment.
Over the past four decades, we have been faithful to our initial goals, embraced an ever changing profession and grown with it.
In our open studio, complementary talents and a shared commitment to excellence encourage collaboration and new ideas.
Over the years, many team members have contributed to the success of the practice and the consistent quality of its work.
Hugh Knoell, Architect, LEED AP, NCARB, leads the firm's commitment to contemporary design, rooted in the culture, climate and landscape of the southwest.
He has served on and chaired local and national AIA committees relating to design and the environment; and has been active at Arizona State University as guest studio critic, thesis advisor and member of the Design Review Board.
Each home is the expression of ideas shared by owner and architect, and each captures the unique character of its setting.
Broad roofs provide shade in summer and let in warm winter sun, and carefully positioned windows frame the best views and fill the interior with daylight.
Natural ventilation takes advantage of the site's own breezes, and rooms merge with gardens, creating a variety of outdoor experiences.
Building form and authentic materials blend with the landscape.\
Our extensive experience in the healthcare field includes projects in a diverse range of uses such as Primary Medical Care, Specialty Medical Care, Dental, Healthy Lifestyles and ground up medical buildings.
Design specifics vary to address the service provided by each medical discipline, patient volume, and medical equipment requirements specific for each specialty.
Each project is planned to promote efficient patient management, allow physicians to practice according to their specific philosophies of treatment, and provide secure, uplifting environments that encourage patients to focus on good health.
