Coulter Architects is a Lake Chelan-based design practice, with an office in Bellevue, serving the West side as well as the East side including the Methow Valley, Chelan Valley, and Wenatchee area. Founded on the ideas that buildings can serve as a bridge between us and nature, as well as culture, and that inspiring surroundings have a positive effect on people's lives.

Led by Ron Coulter, the firm's work can be found across the northwest, with wide ranging projects such as convention centers; hospitals and surgery centers; office buildings; homes of distinction; cultural and civic centers; urban design and planning, and interior design. If you asked us what business we are really in.we would say we are in the quality of life business.

Since moving the practice from the Mercer Island area to the Lake Chelan area, we have concentrated on Homes of distinction. In both the Mercer Island and Washington Park areas of Seattle, we also built custom homes for our own account, providing homes as the client, the architect, and the builder.

As Frank Lloyd Wright said, 'If you foolishly ignore beauty, you'll soon find yourself without it.
Your life will be impoverished.
But if you wisely invest in beauty, it will remain with you all the days of your life.'
Our design philosophy is to embrace Beauty- " the quality attributed to that which pleases or satisfies in certain ways, as by line, color, form, texture proportion, rhythm, tone, or by behavior and attitude."
Beauty takes us to a higher place.
Beauty can be viewed in all things of this universe, but in architecture in particular, through the art and science of architecture, strive to create this quality, utilizing the specific site and interpreting the clients program utilizing the tools of form, proportion, light, rhythm, texture, materials, and of course, a sense of place.
Over the next 40 years, the world is expected to build 230 billion square meters in new construction.
That's roughly equivalent to adding another Paris to the planet every single week.
Despite recent progress, buildings and construction together account for nearly 40% of energy-related carbon dioxide emissions when upstream power generation is included.
The climate change dialogue is pervasive but tactical actions to combat it are discussed far less often.
Architectural, engineering and technology evolution over the years have enabled many advancements in the built environment.
