Although most of our projects are within the State of Georgia including Chatham County, we also serve the entire South East region including the States of Tennessee and South Carolina. We specialize in Living Roof design and installation, and we are interested in helping others maximize other design practices such as native and edible landscapes, Low Impact Development strategies, parks and recreational design, and historic/cultural landscapes.

In addition to Chatham County, GA, we serve other cities with landscape design and green roofs: Savannah, GA; Greenville, SC; Augusta; Chattanooga; Atlanta; Anderson, SC, Macon, and Valdosta. Our Design Philosophy: With every new project I see an opportunity to create an environment that people will enjoy and appreciate generation after generation.

I believe that successful landscapes must incorporate natural biology and appropriate plant selections for each unique site and project parameters. Every project is different; every site is different, and my goal is to assist my clients in achieving a successful landscape for their developments.
Services
Established in 2010, Atlantic Star Landscape Architecture/Living Roofs has become the leader of the development of a green roof market in Savannah, Georgia.
Today, with the effort and help of her like minded colleagues, Stella Ruth Mathews, RLA, GRP continues to dedicate her professional career to the Living Architecture Industry.
I believe it is every Landscape Architect's duty as a registered professional to create places with the health, safety and welfare of our communities in mind, and that is what compels me to promote green roofing in urban and sub-urban built environments.
People have been using Earthen Roofs for centuries, and they have played a vital role in our ability to survive in harsh conditions.
From the Highlands of Scotland to our very own Cockspur Island, green roofs not only have the ability to insulate our living spaces, but they also have the ability to clean water.
The first green roof to be implemented in Savannah, GA is located on a massive structure known as Fort Pulaski.
This Fort, designed by Robert E. Lee, uses a series of drainage pipes that run through the Earthen Roof to 10 individual cisterns located within the walls of the Fort.
Atlantic Star Design offers professional design services for Commercial, Multi-Family, and Municipal projects.
My clients range from individual developers to nationally recognized design firms.
I have completed successful projects as a sole designer working with my client, and as a part of a multi-disciplinary design team.
I have learned throughout the years that the key to a successful project is the ability to marry existing site conditions and constraints with my clients' vision.
The completion of a plan is just one step in the fruition of a project, and construction administration is an important part of ensuring that the landscape features that were developed during the design phase are installed according to the original vision for the project.
It is very rare that a projects gets through the construction phase without any changes to the original plan, and having your landscape architect and/or green roof professional as a part of your construction team can play a vital role in attaining a successful outcome.
Our work stands for itself.
Whether it's designing a green roof, renovating an ignored overgrown landscape, or transforming a ditch into a bio-swale, we bring a level of expertise and attention to detail to every project.
The best way we have found to tell potential clients about what we do is to show them some of our past and current projects.
Please don't hesitate to call or write if you think we would be a good fit for your upcoming project.
We would be honored to serve you as we have served many happy clients.
