Services
Our healthcare studio specializes in Acute Care Design, Ambulatory Surgery Centers, Freestanding Emergency Rooms, Cancer Centers as well as Medical Office Buildings.
The role of the built environment expands beyond the functional needs of the facility - the workers, patients, and families interact as part of the healthcare process and this impacts how we design a space for their needs.
With a long history in the healthcare industry dating back to 1994, we are well versed in our field.
We are engrossed in the ongoing evolution of the healthcare delivery process as well as patient expectations.

Acute Care broadly includes design for facilities such as an emergency department, intensive care, coronary care, cardiology, neonatal intensive care, and many general areas where the patient could become acutely unwell and require stabilization and transfer to another higher dependency unit for further treatment.
Hereford Dooley Architects has planned and designed 242 acute care projects to date.
Our acute care projects are in 18 states throughout the country.
StoneCrest Medical Center was originally designed with 186,000sf of space to service its Rutherford County communities.

For decades now, hospitals have provided a tremendous benefit for fast-growing communities by providing outpatient services in smaller standalone centers.
ASCs meet extensive state and federal requirements and provide services at a lower cost, with better efficiency, and high quality of care so patients can directly return home and focus on healing.
The value of an ASC is evident in the numbers.
The sum of ASC's now outnumber hospitals in the United States with 9,280 active surgery centers compared to 6,146 hospitals.

Since 2011, Hereford Dooley Architects has been involved with over 150 freestanding emergency department (FSED) projects.
It is a privilege to help bring lifesaving care to communities further away from the main hospital campuses.
FSEDs are physically separated from hospitals but offer lifesaving care and can evaluate and stabilize any patient.
They are also normally open 24/7.
The functional design of an FSED is imperative and must be up to code for doctors, nurses and staff to perform vital aid to the patient.

Hereford Dooley Architects has 71 planned and designed Medical Office Buildings.
These facilities provide office-based outpatient or other medical/administrative services.
Medical office buildings can be freestanding or attached to an existing hospital.
Currently, owners are leaning toward buildings that are flexible and diverse, combining primary care, urgent care, specialty clinics, imaging, a lab, social services, a pharmacy, and sometimes even ambulatory surgery, all under one roof.
Our Medical Office Buildings spread across 15 states.
