The client brought a love of the Classical Stone buildings found in France and England to us to use as inspiration for this project. This is the second home we have designed for this couple, and we were able to use our past knowledge of their sophisticated, yet comfortable lifestyle to fine-tune the home to match. The exterior is clad with Indiana cut limestone, including the chimneys and decorative eave details.
The interior walls are traditional plaster. Along with custom trim elements and French oak flooring we chose details and materials to match the owner's tastes and in keeping with the classic feel desired. Embracing the style of the century-old mountain estates in the area that were built by families from the north east and who spent summers in the North Carolina mountains, we designed this home for a woman and her extended family.
The design incorporates separate master suites and ample family living areas. Along with the rambling roofline, a native method of stone work and the slightly Tudor feel are the main design components of this home.
