Since being in private architectural practice, the photographs presented in this website illustrate a wide variety of residential projects that we have designed. These homes were determined by our clients' wants and needs, the site, their budget and if a renovation, the existing structure.

Recently, based on the demographics and the necessity to conserve energy, we have been designing homes that have less square footage and offer renewable energy sources such as passive solar heating and geothermal for heating and air conditioning, offering a considerable savings than the expensive, expendable traditional fossil fuels.

A reduced home size has become a good fit for couples who have or will become "empty nesters" and are now planning for a vacation retreat or that home they always dreamed of with the "perfect kitchen, the exquisite master bedroom suite, the organized work shop, where the tools can always be found" and perhaps only a single guest bedroom, which of course could double as an office or study.
Services
We respect the architectural styles of different periods and are aware of the regional variations of these styles and their involvement.
Our design approach involves insuring that every building, whether classic or traditional, should have a contextual quality as well as a sense of timelessness.
Our designs demonstrate a blending of elements and architectural styles that are carefully chosen to insure the structure's aesthetic integrity with its surroundings, a reflection of its local heritage and assurance that a building will be a "good neighbor".

A new residence in Old Lyme, Connecticut facing south, overlooking the mouth of the Connecticut River.
Taking advantage of the exposure, the variation of projecting overhangs best utilizes passive solar during the seasonal months.
A new residence.
A glass-enclosed atrium is central to the residence's living spaces, providing passive solar heating and a conservatory for plants and flowers.
I'm sure (my wife) told you how thrilled we are with the house.
Your design has made it really something beautiful from every exterior vantage point.
Your extraordinary vision of incorporating a "silo" effect for the staircase has made it a truly innovative structure that never fails to impress anyone who sees it.
Your interior detailing only adds to the marvelous "barn" effect.
Your exceptional creative use of limited space to provide three bedrooms and the family/play rooms and eating area has made it a place our children love to come to, which was of course the whole idea.
