Clark and Marsha Matschek focus on residential design of large and small-scale projects. We like to work in a variety of styles, from formal to natural using a comprehensive approach to our design process. Our clients are asked to talk to us about their wish list and identify long and short-term goals. These discussions guide us and are used as a basis to develop the unique characteristics of the site.

We use our experience and client conversations to find the right relation of the landscape to the house and other architectural structures. These connections must be intimate and inviting. Our goal is to maximize the potential of your site and create a personalized environment.
Services
Analysis of the characteristics of the site in relation to the purposes to be served by the development: necessary conferences, investigation, and the preparation of studies, drawings and estimates to describe, in an overall sense, a recommended design.
After the preliminaries have been evaluated and approved by the client, the landscape architect will prepare working drawings.
In some cases it is desirable to further refine the preliminary plan and prepare a General Plan or a Master Plan to record permanently the entire original plan of development.
Matschek & Associates focuses on residential design in collaboration with architects, contractors, and artists in every scale, from detailed condominium yards to large estate acreage.
Most of our projects are located in the northwest, primarily in Oregon and Washington.
Clark has been in private practice since 1977 and in partnership with his wife Marsha since 1994.
Clark is responsible for the overall master planning and hardscape design while Marsha handles the plant composition, maintenance consulting and detail gardening coordination for annuals, perennials, bulbs and pots.
From the onset of the project we evaluate the clients' budget, goals, maintenance abilities, local codes, and other influential site characteristics to determine a realistic scope for the project.
This process typically involves an initial meeting with the client and site visits.
During the conceptual phase we will develop a design or series of design recommendations intended to capture the overall sense of place that the client would like to create.
This is typically communicated graphically through plans, perspective sketches, and sections that aid in explaining the design intent.
