Videos and slides featuring the process of making stained glass sheet glass at the Lamberts glass factory in Germany.
We often travel to the factory in Waldsassen, Germany, to have custom glass made for our clients.
Lamberts glass has a spectacular clarity and range of color.
Cindy especially likes their Opals and Opaks, which are colors with a thin layer of white.
This layer accentuates the color shading, and really brings out the beauty of the material.
Bob shot and edited these videos to help explain to clients the complex process of blowing a flat sheet of glass.

There are many ways to build a stained glass window: Using lead came, copper foil, dalle de verre, and lamination.
Here at Kessler Studios, we work primarily with lead came.
We like it that the many widths of lead came gives us another artist embellishment to work with.
Occasionally we use copper foil for detail work.
Artistic stained glass lamination is a "hot" technique, used by many studios to created complex designs without the use of lead came.
The look is quite different, but the technique offers a lot of artistic possibilities.

Kessler Studios makes an introductory presentation, showing past work and materials.
They also address fabrication and installation details, and the philosophies with which they create their artwork.
Kessler Studios does not charge for their time invested in the initial meeting.
When the client is farther than a six hour drive from Cincinnati, the client pays their hotel, air fare and taxi or rental car expenses.
Prior to this meeting the Kesslers like to receive the architectural drawings and background on the project.

Whenever possible, double channel frames that accommodate both the stained glass windows and their protective glazing should be used.
Their use facilitates the installation, and any future removals, of either glass panel without affecting the other.
We recommend the frames of the J. Sussman Company.
Aesthetically, these frames are preferential as well, since retrofitted "storefront" frames become wider with the necessary framing add-ons.
This increased visual mass is more intrusive on the stained glass design than the double channel frames.
