Turner Farm is a working farm in Indian Hill, Ohio, which has been in operation since the early 1800s.
In 1994 Bonnie Mitsui returned to the farm, which was now her family's property, and began transforming the property into a truly unique farm and community.
The mission of Turner Farm is to "draw lessons from our rural heritage to help build a positive future, demonstrating that local, organic, low-impact food production grows healthy communities and healthy ecosystems."
Architectural Reclamation enjoys working on and preserving original and fascinating log buildings from the late 1700s and early 1800s.
This historic building, which sits just one block from our office, played a major part in Andy and Bruce's decision to pursue historic preservation.
The two brothers, fresh out of college, took on the challenge of stabilizing the building shortly after it was moved to its present location in the 1970s.
Thirty years later, they had the opportunity to finish the job in the fashion the building deserved.
When it comes to matching historical craftsmanship, Architectural Reclamation enjoys the challenge of coming up with innovative and effective solutions.
The seven soaring chimneys of this early-1800s house were in need of repair.
In the spring of 2013, we were tasked with rebuilding the chimneys using modern brick and mortar to match the original stacks as closely as possible.
Using what was left of the original masonry and clues from historical photographs, we were able to restore the house to its former glory.
Architectural Reclamation finds creative ways to place new roofs on historic buildings and protect properties without destroying their character.
John H. Patterson, the founder of NCR Corporation, brought a bit of the Adirondacks to Dayton, Ohio, in 1906 when he had this shelter built at his estate.
It became the prototype for shelters constructed in Hills and Dales Park, Patterson's gift to Dayton in 1907.
Now the only remaining of these structures was moved to Carillon Park in 2011 when we were contracted to replace the roof.
