In 1971, three friends from Syracuse University, William I. Houghton, N. Stewart Quarty, and Frank M. Warr, decided to create an architecture firm based on the principles of innovative design, quality construction, uncompromising attention to detail, and most importantly, the development of unique solutions to satisfy each of their client's individual requirements.
From these ideals, Houghton Quarty Warr Architects was established.
In recent years the firm has incorporated and shortened the name to HQW Architects, LLC.
