In order to encourage excellence in architecture, the Shreveport Chapter of the American Institute of Architects conducts an annual Awards Program. Through this program, AIA Shreveport seeks to honor works of distinction by its members and bring to public attention outstanding examples of architecture. AIA Shreveport would also like to recognize our member firm, Prevot Design Services, for their exceptional design work converting a WWII warehouse into a new facility for United Tile Company.

The Shreveport Chapter of the American Institute of Architects through its Board of Directors is pleased to confer upon Matt Abrams, AIA its appreciation for dedication and outstanding contribution to the architectural profession as President of the Shreveport Chapter of the American Institute of Architects 2020.

Our charter members of the chapter were Seymour Van Os, Clarence W. King, Edward F. Neild, J. Paul Annan, Samuel G. Wiener, J. O. Mitchell, and Henry E. Schwarz.
Seeking more regional autonomy, members from Monroe and Shreveport sought to divide the North Louisiana Chapter.
Today, AIA Shreveport is a volunteer led 501 (c) (6) non-profit professional association incorporated in Caddo Parish and an accredited component of AIA Louisiana.
The objectives of this Chapter are to promote and forward those objectives of The American Institute of Architects within the assigned territory of the Chapter.
If you are looking to build any type of building an Architect should be involved in the project.
There are many benefits to having an Architect involved.
You have a vision of what you want.
Now you need to make that vision a reality.
Architects see the big picture.
Architects are educated to assist you in defining what you want to build, present options you might never have considered, and help you get the most for your valuable investment.
They don't just design four walls and a roof - they create total environments, both interiors and exteriors, that are functional and exciting places in which to work and live.
Like doctors and lawyers, architects are licensed professionals.
The title "Architect" may be used only by an individual who possesses a state license to practice architecture.
They are the only professionals in the construction industry who are ethically bound to represent you, the building owner.
College degree from an accredited school of architecture, requiring five or more years of professional studies.
Only those professionals who have fulfilled these requirements, or other requirements as stipulated by each individual state, may legally call themselves architects and practice architecture in the jurisdiction granting the license.
The American Institute of Architects is the voice of the architecture profession, dedicated to serving its members, advancing their value, and improving the quality of the built environment.
Membership gives you access to a vibrant network of professionals, an online selection of courses, opportunities to shape public policy issues important to the built community and critical business and career resources.
Our global community shares a passion for design, a conviction it matters and commitment to improving lives through the built environment.
They may not renew at the associate rate.
