We supply Heavy Timber Truss Packages on a regular basis for both structural and decorative applications.
There are two main types of joinery in trusses: the more common steel plated assembly and the traditional mortised and pegged assembly.
Most of our truss projects are true mortised or mortised/steel hybrids but we can certainly fabricate traditional steel plated trusses if that is the look that is desired.
One common misconception is that timber trusses can only be used as decorative components.

We also specialize in stand-alone timber framed structures such pavilions, pergolas and barns.
The same parameters described for trusses above apply for these structures as well.
Our typical timber frame is fabricated from Eastern White Pine or Douglas Fir.
Other species such as Cypress and Alaska Yellow Cedar are available but are incrementally more expensive.
Because Eastern White Pine is a local material to our fabricators, the cost of trusses in this species is typically 10% to 15% less than Douglas Fir.

For our timber packages, we specialize in Vacuum Kiln Dried Eastern White Pine and Douglas Fir, Traditionally Kiln Dried Douglas Fir, Green Alaska Yellow Cedar and Green Western Red Cedar.
We recommend Alaska Yellow Cedar for exposed exterior applications because of its superior natural rot resistance but we now can also have Borate Pressure Treatment applied to Eastern White Pine Timbers to resist insect damage as well as fungal growth.
Western Species are available in smooth, re-sawn and rough sawn finishes.

We have great sources for Antique Timbers in many different species.
These can be provided as restoration timbers with original patina and textures or re-sawn to your specifications depending upon material.
In addition to these timbers we can provide antique pine rafters and joists up to 4 in thickness as well as mortised rafter sets from old barns and homes.
Please call for availability.
