Stark State College's mission is to "provide a current, relevant and quality-driven technical education to those seeking to pursue or expand careers in business-related fields."
With this in mind, SSC found it necessary to expand their educational offerings.
This brought about the concept for a new Business and Entrepreneurial Studies Division that offers associate degrees and one-year certificate programs that meet the demands of today's rapidly changing workplace.
All this needed a new home, the Business and Entrepreneurial Center.

This recreational project began as a vision to expand the capabilities of the Stark Parks wildlife rehabilitation program, which cares for an average of 2,000 wounded animals annually, and to intertwine space to host and support educational programs.
Previously, Stark Parks had been operating out of a 2,000 square foot pole building on the Sippo Lake site since 1981 with little or no accommodations for park staff and volunteers.
Additional space was needed to improve care for the injured animals, expand opportunities to collaborate and conduct research with professionals and academics, and to host educational exhibits and park programs.

The University library, Kolenbrander-Harter Information Center (KHIC), had long remained a warehouse for books with many quiet spaces for solitary study.
At the same time, growth within the Engineering Department at Mount Union required additional space to house the soon to be displaced Mathematics Department.
As a result, the University of Mount Union sought to consolidate their book collection to free up space for expanded group study areas and begin to infuse additional academic and faculty space.
