King Wong Photography focuses on travel and stock pictures of China - its people, landscape, architecture, scenic attractions and historical sites. All pictures are available as stock photos for commercial licensing, and as fine art prints for display. You will also find travel informations, travelogues, maps, local arts and crafts of the various destinations that the Chinese people had created and developed during their more than 5,000 years of China's civilization.
The China pictures are drawn from an archive of 5,000 hi-res images that are continuously added on regularly. See list of locations and tourist spots that I had visited. The beautiful city of Suzhou, with its large network of canals and an easy-paced living style, is one of the most desirable places to live in. Since I started traveling in China back in 2001, I had never missed a visit here.
I sat down for lunch at one of the food stalls along the Tianzishan mountains. The woman recommended that I tried one of these little wild chickens (or some sort of quail), call °°|.I can't be sure that it is wild, but its size won't fill me. On the stone steps I saw the more familar chickens running freely. So I asked for one of those. But unfortunately those goodies are reserved for themselves.

Below is a list of locations that I had visited.

Beijing has a long history. Ignoring its prehistoric beginnings, its prominence within Chinese civilization can be traced back about 3000 years to the Spring and Autumn Warring States Era (about 770BCE - 221BCE), where the state of Ji established itself on present Beijing. Later, the the well-known state of Yan took over and it became its capital, then known as Yanjing or Yandu.
From the first dynasty Qin (221BCE - 206BCE) onward it was treated with importance.
But it wasn't until the Yuan dynasty (1271-1368) that the Mongols made it a capital (then called Dadu) of an empire. When Ming dynasty (1368-1644) drove out the Mongols, the chosen capital was Nanjing (South Capital), and the Mongol capital was renamed Beiping.

The following year reconstruction work on the hall started and continued til its completion in 1896.
Today this temple complex had been converted into a public park and the entirely wood royal temple, which was assembled together using complex joinery, especially in the brackets that make up the triple eaves, sits on a three-tier marble mount on the north of the complex.
The tourist areas in the park are inevitably crowded, but fortunately the park itself is meant for the more reflective, so it is quite lonely. I always find someone with a erhu in the long corridors, playing to the squirrels. Although you may find a flutist playing to one of its usually elusive odd birds that soon disappears among the ancient cypresses.

Three gates between °Tiananmen Gate and °Qian Men (Front Gate) were removed to expand the space for this public square.
With its 440,000 square meter area, it is literally capable of packing a million people.
In the summer you can expect a full square of people flying kites or, more often, sitting around; in the winter, however, there is not a kite.
But whatever the time, once in Beijing city, it is difficult not come in contact with the square: It is a mecca and magnet that draws things and events to it.

I was staying in a hotel within this hutong during the 2 times (2004 and 2006) I was here.
The hutong was in the process of being cleared for, I am assuming, commercial projects.
The hutong stretched all the way to ° Qianmen leading to the Tiananmen Square.
Much of it was already cleared.
The stone lions, chimeras, toistoises and unicorns that guarded the royal tombs of the Six Dynasties Era for the past 1600 years.
The compounds and manors of the extreme wealthy in Shanxi's small towns and villages.
