Other design professionals are usually desired (or required) to complete a custom residence. The professionals included here are often part of the design team but are not usually included in the scope of our services. We can provide options for professionals based on scope and style of the project, or we are happy to work with professionals already familiar to the client.
INTERIOR DESIGNER- designer responsibilities generally include selections of interior colors, finishes including tile/stone/ wood flooring, all bathroom finishes, closet design, decorative fixtures, soft goods, furniture, hardware, and countertops. Designer input is considered in other architect designed millwork and casegoods.
The interior designer is an integral part of the team on most of our projects, however, if the desire is for interior and/ or exterior architecture to be driven by primarily the designer, a different architect is likely a better choice for the project. On occasion, we work with 'owner as interior designer'.

Our firm is primarily focused on a creative process that yields a finished residence capturing the client's personal vision, which is never a 'monument' to the architect.
In our opinion, a custom residence is the most personal of architectural genres and is therefore the most interesting, challenging, and exciting opportunity available to a designer.
Every client is unique, with different functional and aesthetic requirements considering such a personal space.
Therefore our portfolio reflects a wide range of architectural styles, project scopes and project sizes.

An initial meeting occurs between Jeff Harrell and a potential client to discuss compatibility and expectations for the project.
If the commission is secured, a design discussion ensues.
The client often provides photos, magazine clipping, and notes to assist in conveying their vision.
Of course, no visual aid is ever copied as each design is an original, however Jeff is skilled at gleaning a feel, mood, a desired detail, or a specific finish from a visual.
This information, along with a detailed project discussion and review of the Architect's extensive portfolio photos nearly always allows the initial design sketches to approach client expectations.
