Services
Mitchell and Mouat's small, highly-experienced team of architects works collaboratively with clients to create functional, attractive spaces that meet the needs of their users.
We understand that our structures serve different purposes for different people - we're experts at discerning the needs of our clients and synthesizing them into meaningful outcomes.
We're flexible in terms of style and synergetic in our working style, giving us the ability to adapt to any project condition and work through any challenge that arises.
Led by founding partners Richard W. Mitchell and John H. Mouat, our staff of seven includes five architects, all licensed in the state of Michigan.
Our core staff has worked together for an average of ten years.
We work collaboratively together in an open-office environment, fostering the spirit of idea-sharing and honest feedback.
Our shared values enable a degree of integrity in both project design and the relationships we develop with our clients.
Flexibility: our small size and varied expertise allows for the ability to adapt to the conditions of the project.
Mitchell and Mouat's highly-experienced, flexible team offers a variety of architectural and design-related services, including but not limited to Architectural Design, Construction Administration, Master Planning, Historic Preservation, Interior Design, and Feasibility Studies.

Part of that focus means we strongly believe that all projects should be designed to minimize environmental impact while maximizing human potential.
Mitchell and Mouat subscribes to the philosophy of "community architecture" - we believe that the inhabitants or the users of our structures are ultimately the clients.
Our designs must work for and with the community that they're intended to serve.
A large portion of our work is in the public sector.
Because these projects typically require the use of public funds and/or resources, we believe it is our responsibility to not only create the most usable structure, but one that will be embraced by the community and stand the test of time.
In over three decades, we've helped bring to life a diverse collection of spaces that look as good as they perform for their users.
Our approach to community-based architectural projects means we deliver structures designed to optimize the needs of all key stakeholders.
No web site could ever hold the architectural projects we've delivered in municipal, transportation, library, religious, performing arts, education, and recreation facilities.
