The Armour Building - Originally built in 1907 and renovated at the turn of the Century, The Armour Building is a beautiful historic building in down town Tacoma. Situated opposite the famous Brown & Haley candy factory and with close proximity to the Tacoma Dome and LeMay car museum, Erickson McGovern enjoys exposure to a variety of amenities and landmarks, often in walking distance.
Founded in 1972, Erickson McGovern Architects has been a mainstay in Pierce County Architectural community for nearly 50 years. Our story is one of innovation and adaptation, while never losing sight of the clients and communities we serve. Starting an educational design firm was the idea of John Erickson and Rick McGovern, both architectural students at Washington State University in the late 1960's to early 1970's.
Their focus was educational planning and design, something that was lacking during that time period. At that time, school design was solely based around use, with little emphasis put into the aesthetics of the building.
