The East Bay house I grew up in had a small deck in the front that was screened for privacy from the street by a five foot high wall.
My brother and sisters and I would sleep outside there in the summers.
It was amazing sleeping under the stars.
It was like going on vacation without leaving home.
I spent part of my summers on a farm in the Central Valley and the other part at my grandparent's cabin on Austin Creek a tributary of the Russian River.
