Carol's passion for traditional homes extends back to her East Coast roots where she grew up around some of the oldest homes in the country. At age 10, a family vacation to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina inspired her to become an architect. Equally right and left-brained, Carol attended Rhode Island School of Design (for her right brain) and Clemson University (for her left brain).

She has been mentored by architects of international acclaim including the late Elizabeth Wright Ingraham, one of the most outspoken advocates for modern architecture and environmental stewardship - and one of many descendants of Frank Lloyd Wright who inherited the call to architecture. In 2001, Carol founded rom architecture studio, a boutique firm dedicated to the design of fine single family residences.

Projects range from rehabilitation of Craftsman bungalows and Tudor mansions to new modern homes with high efficiency systems and new technology. In 2011, the firm was awarded the AIA/HUD Secretary's Award Alan J. Rothman Award for Housing Accessibility for the 'Magnolia Mid-Mod' project.
