Alice Dodson Architect is a full-service architectural design firm with more than 30 years of experience. We are located in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, in a rural studio just minutes from Asheville. Our work is mostly custom residential architecture, from "castles to cottages, " residential community and retreat center design.
Our residential, mountain architectural firm has designed a large number of homes around the city of Asheville and in others areas of North Carolina. Since 1992 we have researched and implemented sustainable and green design strategies when possible. We incorporate alternative building materials and methods, which are non-toxic and energy efficient, and we use alternative energy sources in our projects.
We emphasize the relationship of a building and its environment as an integrated and harmonious whole. By listening to our clients, exploring the site, understanding the client's lifestyle, we strive to create a beautiful environment that is not only functional, but inspires and uplifts the soul.

When we go through the process of creating a new home or community, we carefully reevaluate and reinterpret the way you live.

Using sophisticated computer technology, we provide you with a 3D computer model of the site and the structure to aid in the visualization of our design.
At the end of the design stage we involve a structural engineer to provide a foundation plan and structural details.
To design and provide construction drawings for a mid-sized custom home usually takes 3 to 6 months.
It is an intimate design process.
